KICKSTARTER ROUNDUP: 8/19/13

Welcome to my latest roundup of Kickstarter projects that sound almost too good to be true. These are the projects that jump out at me when I am perusing Kickstarter. These are the ones that inspire me to continue supporting Kickstarter projects, even when I get a little disheartened by things. When I talk about the great things Kickstarter has to offer, THESE projects are the types of things I am talking about. Sit back, read on, and see what I think are your best bets on Kickstarter right now!

1) HAVOK & HIJINKS

Sometimes, you're just in the mood for something quick, easy, and somewhat whimsical. And sometimes, you just want a game that can pass the time when you are stuck in those horrifically long con lines. Havok and Hijinks strives to be that game, because that is where the inspiration came from. It is a game that takes some classic Fantasy ideas, and turns them around. For a change, you are not the adventurer seeking to slay the dragon, save the princess, and get the treasure. You play as a young dragon in a quest to obtain their own horde of gold, gems, and other priceless shiny baubles. The competition, is other dragons who also want to gather their own horde. Simple, right? With a short play time of an estimated 15 to 30 minutes, this game is the perfect length to be played while waiting in line. Also, at a mere 15 dollar buy in, it is affordable, to boot!  Click below or the link above to check it out!

2) BASE STAMPERS

You ever try and paint a miniature, and when all is said and done, you are happy with the paint job, but annoyed that the base is just incredibly bland? Would you like to add some pizzazz to the stand without too much effort? Now you can! Base Stampers, is a series of Base stamps. With a little bit of clay, and some paint, you can take a bland base, and turn it into something special. There are a large variety of possible stamps, and you can mix and match to get just the patterns you want. For about 25 dollars (that includes international shipping) you can get a set of 4 stamps, and be well on your way to spicing up your miniature bases! 3) PROJECT PHOENIX

A large portion of my video game playing childhood was spent on JRPGs. Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy 6 (Or as it was called on the Super Nintendo at the time, Final Fantasy 3) were two of my all time favorites, Between the two of those games, I probably spent a good 200+ hours playing them. It seems however, that as time progressed, the newer games lacked the depth of the older games, abandoning the story, for flashy graphics, as they strove to take advantage of "the next big thing". From the sound of it, Project Phoenix strives to break that mold. It seeks to bring back the depth that roped us in. Honestly, all this project had to do to get me on board was mention that Nobuo Uematsu was on board., and it became less of a question of "Should I back it?, and more of a question of "Where can I sell my vital organs so I can back it at the highest level possible?" To this day, Uematsu's music is still one of my favorite things about the Final Fantasy series, and his "Aria di Mezzo Carattere" is quite possibly my single favorite piece of video game music EVER! In fact, I've been listening to that song on constant loop as I write this post.  Back this game! For a mere 20 dollars, you get the game, as well as Beta Access! Or for 50 dollars, you can also get an exclusive item, and the Uematsu sound track. What more can you want? Click the image below, or the link above, and join me in backing this game!
