MY TUNES: A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING

There is a part of me that absolutely adores Youtube... It is a grand place to showcase countless talent, and more cat videos than there are cats in the history of the planet. It is often through random Youtube clicks, as well as the recommendation of friends that I discover new music that has quickly filled my iPhone, and is actually currently my primary impetus behind my decision to look for a new phone.

This week, I'd like to showcase several videos that have caught my eye recently, and I haven't posted about yet.

1) EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTORY: SHAKA ZULU VS JULIUS CAESAR
If you aren't familiar with Epic Rap Battles of History, I am so sorry. You're missing out. These videos manage to make me laugh almost every time. And the word play they toss in can often be so profoundly perfect, that I just can't help but admire the artistry behind what they do. This time, they offer up a battle rap that is catchy, and tosses little tidbits of history your way. An epic win in my books.

2) PLAYER PIANO- SUPER MARIO MEDLEY
I have been remiss in not mentioning Player Piano more often. Because Sonya Belousova is an amazingly talented lady, and brings new life to some of the most nostalgic memories of my childhood. Whether she is tickling the ivories to hammer out the Tetris theme, or going for an old school rendition of the theme from the first video game I ever played (on an amazing custom piano, I might add) every one of these videos is a great reason to wax sentimental over memories of days gone by.

3) POSTMODERN JUKEBOX- CRIMINAL
This particular video is one of the reasons I am writing this as a compilation, as opposed to a single post about this song. With the last two Postmodern posts, I have been familiar with the original songs. This particular one, I can't for the life of me recall having heard. I decided to watch the original video, and still nothing... But, I think the mix of Ariana Savalas' voice, and Scott Bradlee's arrangement, I can't help but enjoy listening to this rendition. On top of all that, like many of Postmodern Jukebox's videos, I just kinda want to go over to this house, and relax, because seriously... this is some awesome fun.

I was going to include a 4th video here, of Meytal Cohen's song Nothing... Unfortunately, the only video I found included a lot of talking over the video itself. So instead, I'm going to use this spot to urge you to go check out Meytal's album over HERE. Her drum work is amazing, and I'm digging what she has produced. So, pick up a copy of the album now!

As I have made it my custom to do, if you are the first to email me at slamfistmedia at gmail dot com, I will gift you ANY of the songs featured in this post. If you ask really nice, I might even gift the album by Meytal.

So check out the songs. If there is a band you think I should be listening to, leave a comment below! Keep on rocking!
